Throughout Algarve, kitesurf is a popular sport to practice in the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. There are many spots to choose from for practising kitesurf.

Portimao, Tavira, Lagoa and Lagos are great places where you can practice kitesurfing. there are many beaches to choose from with very few rocks that can be a danger. There are also numerous sports where you can take a course to learn the sport.

The best spot for it in Algarve is Alvor Beach in Portimao, a place where international championships are held each year for kitesurf. The wind here tends to be onshore, or side off shore, depending from the place in which you are kitesurfing.
