Of the hundreds of beaches that you can visit along the coastline of Algarve, some are especially unique for their natural beauty. Here you will find crystal clear water, coves, caves, little bays, long and extensive seashore that is protected by the dunes, with the soft, Atlantic seabreeze cooling extreme temperatures.

Some of the beaches in Algarve are especially visited for unique motives.

The Island of Tavira, for example, forms part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It is a sandy island with about 11 kilometers of beach where you will be able to spread out, enjoy the sun, waves, and a swim in the sea. It is situated about 3 minutes by boat from Tavira, and has fantastic temperatures as well as great services on the island.

Gale Beach is located in Albufeira, and is surrounded by a beach promenade with restaurants, bars, and other services along it.

Marinha Beach (Praia de Marinha) is one of the prettiest and most emblematic of Portugal. It receieved the Golden Beach Award, and is considered one of the best 100 beaches in the world. Because of its breathtaking beauty, this beach has been used by many advertising agencies in pictures to promote one thing or the other.

Above all, Algarve´s coastline is a natural treasure cove which is why it is such a popular tourist destination. It has kilometers of golden sand, agreeable temperatures, clean water, all for you to enjoy during your holidays...


The variety of beaches in Algarve is impressionable. There are many to practice water sports on such as kitesuf, windsurf, or surf. One such beach for these activities is that of Alvor Beach. About 4 or 5 kilometers away from it, you will encounter lots of ambiance in Portimao, where there are lots of restaurants, bars, and other services.

On the seaside of Algarve, you can also practice hiking, and other sports such as swimming or scubadiving in certain spots, such as that of Marinha Beach in Lagoa.
